Steve Swain- Environmental Horticulture Advisor

The Environmental Horticulture Program promotes sound plant health care in our urbanized county, with strong emphasis on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles. Clientele include landscape architects, landscape contractors, tree services, urban foresters and public park/watershed agency staff.

Steven Swain is the new Environmental Horticulture Advisor for Marin and Sonoma counties. His background is in commercial arboriculture. He previously worked in Sonoma County as the Sudden Oak Death Project Coordinator, and more recently worked at UC Berkeley, specializing in composting and the spread of Phytophthora ramorum.
